Summertime does not make getting dressed for work particularly simple. While adhering to the professional dress code, you want to wear something that will keep you comfortable during your commute, warm in your chilly office, and carry you from your desk to outdoor cocktails. That's a big ask. You might expect a really unpleasant morning routine if you take into account the fact that many of us are already sluggish on the way back into the office. We asked 18 ladies from different industries to discuss what they like to wear when temps start to climb in order to help you feel good about your work "fits" and to make your week a little simpler. This is a very remarkable group, which includes everyone from investment experts to fashionistas to our own editor-in-chief. Here is their advice on what to wear to work in the summer. "I have to constantly be meeting-ready. Whatever. I leave the home at 8 A.M. needs to be able to get me through a mile-long journey pushing a stroller to school drop-off, Nadia Zaki's yoga class at Equinox, and a full day of meetings. My go-to outfit consists of these Koral glossy leggings and a Nike sports bra that is low cut enough to double as a real bra. After my workout, I take off the leggings and am ready to go. To prevent it from wrinkling in my luggage (which is tucked beneath my daughter's feet in the stroller, of course), I layer a loose silk dress over it.. I thank God for whoever introduced the fad of wearing sneakers with gowns because it has saved my life. I'll start my day in these APL leopard sneakers and change into heels afterwards. For short changes, I leave these Loeffler Randall sandals at my workplace. My Living Proof dry shampoo, however, is the most important component of this jigsaw. Even now, I have no idea how I made it without it.
"Working in technology has done more to nourish my sense of style. I prefer wearing jeans and a T-shirt (OAK's basic tee, Topshop's Jamie denim, and a classic Keds sneaker are my go-tos), but when I started working, I had to put back on my business clothes. I strongly gravitated towards basic hues like black and white (Audrey Hepburn-style), teaming my jeans and T-shirts with an oversized blazer, a sultry kitten heel, and massive hoop earrings for an extra pop. I adore a good power suit for more formal events; by wearing a basic bodysuit beneath, you can dress it up for meetings and take the jacket off for happy hour or dinner. Watches are my newest obsession.
Nothing quite says "let's cut a deal!" like a powerful stance with a vintage Cartier watch (from The RealReal) on your wrist. Pen down your point of view on Women's Fashion Write for Us.
